According to People, Anderson Cooper went home with a new piece of art, $1.4 million worth!
The live auction, Sean Penn's Help Haiti Home gala held this weekend selling pieces like renowned contemporary art by Jeff Koons. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper had his eye on one high-priced prize, Penn's collection of old firearms.
It was a huge battle against the anchors, Piers Morgan and Anderson Cooper. Morgan quit after offering $1.3 million, but it was Cooper who took home the prize.
According to the site, an eyewitness said actress Gwyneth Paltrow was yelling and encouraging Cooper to "go for it."
While Cooper may be excited about his winnings, maybe he should have asked his boyfriend, Benjamin Maisani what he thought about Saturday night's spending.
According to Cooper, he called his partner and said Maisani was just getting over being in shock from the promised artwork.
"I texted my boyfriend and told him I spent $1.4 million on a piece of art. He said, 'Are you f------ kidding!?' " Cooper, 46, told the laughing crowd later that night.
According to Daily Mail, Cooper has been dating his partner Maisani since 2009. Maisani is French born, and lives with Cooper in his converted fire station townhouse.
