At the TCA Conference in California, ABC's The Bachelor Juan Pablo was quick to say he has gay friends. Despite this, he made a series of controversial comments in response to the question of their being a gay Bachelor on a future season of the show.
For starters he said: "I don't think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV," to TV Page reporter Sean Daly.
Pablo went on and on about the idea of a gay couple: "It is confusing in a sense. But I respect them because they want to have kids. They want to be parents...Where is the thin line to cross or not? You have to respect everybody's desires and way of living. But it would be too hard for TV."
There were more comments on the manner, but perhaps the most oddball one was when Pablo said that gay people are "more pervert in a sense."
American-Born Juan Pablo Galavis is Venezuelan and left soccer to pursue a career in the music industry. In 2009 he had his daughter Camila along with his girlfriend at the time, Venezuelan actress Carla Rodriguez. He appeared on The Bachelorette in 2013. Not making it to the final two, he was later chosen to be the star of season 18's The Bachelor. The season just premiered this January, and has been doing well since then. Pablo's latest statements may cause a stir, however. Even Girls' Lena Dunham is a fan of the man, upon recently meeting him.
