This just in: the long-running comedy Parks and Recreation will now be renewed for a seventh season, according to Deadline. The news was announced by NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt, and is especially great news for fans of the show, who have faced the possibility of it getting cancelled many times before.

Aside from the lead Amy Poehler, the show boasts a huge cast: Adam Scott, Retta, Jim O'Heir, Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Rob Lowe, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt and Aubrey Plaza. Poehler recently won her first Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Comedy. She co-hosted along with Tina Fey. The show was glaringly left out of the nominations at the even more recent SAG Awards.

Poehler has co-created a show under NBC and Universal TV, which has just gotten the go-ahead for an official pilot, also reported by Deadline. She created the comedy along with Jonathan Fener and Josh Bycel. The sitcom will revolve around the aids who work for the elderly. It will star actress Natasha Lyonne who has been in a number of films and appears on Netflix's Orange is the New Black. Her character Nicky Nichols brings comedy to that intense show.

Of the show with a Golden Girls flare, NBC Chairman says: "It's time to blow up the cliches about old people."

The opportunity is a chance for Poehler to produce, as her close friend and colleague, Tina Fey.
