One Direction Sued One Direction

British boy band One Direction countersued unknown American boy band One Direction.

The American One Direction sued the British group back in April accusing the British stole their band name 'One Direction'.  The American band said they have been using the name even before the British boys have met one another and appeared on public.

The U.K. side said in their lawsuit that they have "continuously and consistently been utilizing the One Direction Mark since ODUK made its public debut on the popular British television program 'The X Factor' in the fall of 2010," according to E! News.

Lawyers of the U.K group said their clients made its public debut in the fall of 2010 and their music videos posted on YouTube circulated worldwide starting in September 2010. There were more than 30 videos up and exposed to the U.S. public.

Peter Ross, the attorney of U.S. band said "It looks like we got defendants' attention". He continued, "This is the response we expected, given who we're up against.  An effort is being made to intimidate these young men from California. Our clients believe in their case and will not be deterred."

The U.S. group also sued Simon Cowell's record label and Sony Music for $1million in damages.
