MStars has learned that America's favorite dad is back! According to Deadline, the 1980s dad, Bill Cosby is back and looking to bring some fun back to NBC.
The network and the comedian have made a deal to feature a half-hour family comedy starring Cosby.
If you were around in the 80s, then you can remember the great show on NBC, The Cosby Show. The 1984 show featured Cosby as he shared fun, comedy learning expericnes with his family, the Huxtable's. The upper middle-class African-American family lived in Brooklyn, New York and had a wonderful cast including, Bill Cosby as the father, Phylicia Rashad, and the mother, Sabrina Le Beauf, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Lisa Bonet, Tempestt Bledsoe, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Geoffrey Owens, Raven-Symone, and Erika Alexander.
Just as Cosby did in the 80s, he is now going to partner back up with producer Tom Werner. Werner's company along with Marcy Carsey produced The Cosby Show.
The new comedy will be surrounded around Cosby, who plays the head of a multi-generational family, just like his 1980s family sitcom. This new family will also feature Cosby's marriage and parenting skills.
The partners are currently holding meetings with writers for the project, and is currently on an off season development track.
The idea to bring back a family comedy has been on the minds of both Cosby, and Werner. "They would like to see a married couple that acts like they love each other, warts and all, children who respect the parenting, and the comedy of people who make mistakes. Warmth and forgiveness," Cosby said in an interview with Yahoo TV back in November. "So I hope to get that opportunity, and I will deliver the best of Cosby."
In addition to the new project, Cosby has also been working on new animated series of the famous cartoon, Fat Albert And The Cosby Kids with writer-producer Tom Straw.
