The award winning Australian singer-songwriter, Gotye has his own share of songs that inspire his artistry and song writing skills. Many are wondering whether Gotye will fade in time from the mainstream and just stay as a one hit wonder with his song, 'Somebody That I Used To Know.'

The hit will soon reach its first year anniversary since it was released Down Under last July 5, 2011. Since then, it has received a total of 260 million views over at YouTube. Over the past decade of making his own music, Gotye has done three studio albums which include 38 electro pop songs.

Gotye's third Aussie single, 'I Feel Better,' which is from his most recent album, shows much of the musical influences of the artist from various 80s music. Many experts and critics say that his music is a mix of Sting and a little Peter Gabriel. It also has touches of drum patterns inspired by Carribbean and Brazilian music, which makes his songs sound positive and lively despite the melancholic lyrics.

Here are several songs from the albums that Gotye considers as his own favourites:

Aside from Peter Gabriel's 'So' album and the 'Abbey Road' of The Beatles, Gotye has been admittedly obsessed with the songs from Depeche Mode released in 1993. He shared in an interview that it has several layers to it and that he can credit it alone for his album making endeavours.

Gotye's second in the list is RJD2's 'Since We Last Spoke.' It makes Gotye more interesting when you get to discover him listening to a wide range of music and not just limited to his usual electro pop genre.

Another is the 'Happy' album of another Aussie artist who can play various instruments, Machine Translations. He considers its lead man, Greg Walker, to be one of the greatest and underrated songwriter, musical engineer and producer in Australia.

Other albums that influence Gotye's music include Ween's 'Chocolate and Cheese' and Perrey and Kingsley's 'The In Sound From Way Out.'
