A touching "in memoriam" segment was featured during the 2014 Grammy Awards on Sunday evening (January 26). Somehow, producers overlooked the fact that Cory Monteith's last name was misspelled in the video clip. "Gleeks" were not amused.
The beloved "Glee" star died from a drug overdose back in July - he was only 31-years-old.
Canadian journalist Mike Morrison quickly pointed-out the disrespectful mistake:
@mikesbloggity: "Cory Monteith's name was spelled incorrectly. Someone's getting fired. #grammys."
The screengrab shows Monteith's last name incorrectly spelt as Montieth. Big oops.
Several Twitter fans were very angry over such a crazy error:
@_cottoncandybby: "So Congrats To Grammy For Spelling Cory Monteith's Name Wrong /.\ Have You Guys Heard Of Spell Check You Idiots I'm Done With These People."
@KasFearon: "Just think it's highly disrespectful and careless to get Cory Monteith's name wrong on his tribute at the Grammys."
@LillyMonchele: "@CoryMonteith hey buddy you need to slap the person who spelled your name wrong at the Grammys all the way from heaven. I LOVE YOU!! ;)"
@TeanaMarie: "Ohh...#GRAMMYs y'all didn't spell @CoryMonteith's name correctly..."i" before "e", but not this time..."
@hajmom: "Dear Recording Academy, it's 2014 & no one has spell check? His name is Cory MONTEITH!!! Fire the fact check clerk!! #GRAMMYS."
Still waiting on an official apology...
The actor was best-known for playing high school quarterback Finn Hudson on Fox's hit series "Glee." RIP, Cory Monteith.
