Somewhere in Los Angeles, Selena Gomez may well have looked up from the giant pile of money she sleeps on to stay young and smiled. Brooklyn weirdo producer Oneohtrix Point Never chose her track "Come & Get It" as his favorite jam of 2013 in DIS Magazine.
Asked to explain his choice, the man born Daniel Lopatin said the following:
"Come & Get It" is based on a hybrid of Eurosynth and Ethnotech templates created for Selena Gomez by Stargate. The video is an amalgam of several fantasyscapes revolving around the idea of tropical sensuality and dancing. There is also an expository segment before the song starts which features Selena in a meadow of blue flowers. This is likely a reference to Substance D, the drum n bass comp by Dieselboy."
O...kay? It should be noted that most of the other contributors actually explained why they liked the track. And he wasn't the only outsider musician to pick a mainstream track. Producer Kingdom and singer Kelela picked "Body Party" by Ciara and "Blow" by Beyonce respectively.
If you are wondering, Selena Gomez currently spends her free time crushing Justin Bieber like she's swinging Mjolnir.
