A.J. McLean is a member of the Backstreet Boys. Which means he came up through the pop music machine, probably did a lot of drugs and came out the other side with a life that is noticeably not destroyed and a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Therefore, he'd make the perfect mentor for troubled teenybopper, Justin Bieber. Apparently A.J. agrees because he told People that he really wants to sit Bieber down and talk to him.

A.J. told the magazine he wants to  "see if I can reach out to Justin and see if we can have a sit-down, take him under my wing, and tell him what it was like for me at that age, and maybe see if he will actually hear me." McLean added that he's worried Bieber might be surrounded by yes men who are egging the pop star on.

"One of the first things I would say is one of the tattoos that I have on me that says, 'What are you doing? Are you trying to prove something to yourself? Are you trying to prove something to the press and the media? Are you trying to flip everyone the bird and say, 'I can do what I want!'? Or are you trying to ask for help and you're not going about it the right way?" he said. "This could be a cry for help for all we know."

"Hopefully he'll want to sit down and we can have a little chat,"he added, "Obviously he has to go through what he's going through, and hopefully he comes out the other end a better, stronger human being."

Also, for anyone wondering what McLean is doing with himself nowadays outside of BSB, have a listen at this glorious Death! Death! Die! track.
