Season 3 of ABC's smash hit Scandal has already contained more twists and turns than a California highway, but the show is preparing to introduce some characters that have often been mentioned but never seen: President Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) and First Lady Mellie Grant's (Bellamy Young) children.
TVLine first exclusively reported that the Shonda Rhimes drama is in the process of casting guest-starring roles for 15-year-old Jerry, who is described as "quiet, asmart and intense," and his younger sister Karen, who is described as "polished, self-assured and older than her years."
Fans learned in a previous episode that the First Couple's first child might actually belong to Fitz's father, Jerry, who raped Mellie many years ago. If that's the case, then Fitz's son is actually his brother, and the child's name, Jerry, just took on a whole new level of disturbing.
The site reports that the Grants' children will appear in Episode 15 of the 18-episode season. Scandal returns from its lengthy winter hiatus on Thursday, Feb. 27 with Episode 11.
In other Scandal news, the "Ask Ausiello" column at TVLine got bits of information from Bellamy Young about Jon Tenney's (The Closer) role during the second half of the season:
"Asked to preview The Closer alum Jon Tenney's upcoming Season 3B run, Bellamy Young reports with a big (albeit cryptic) smile, 'We are having fun with Mr. Tenney - a great, great deal of fun.' Pressed to elaborate, she adds: 'His character, Andrew, is someone that we have... uh... I don't know what I'm allowed to say!' Well, since Andrew is reportedly a romantic interest for the long forsaken First Lady, does he arrive in her life at a good time? Young laughs - a lot -before responding, "Is there ever a good time in Mellie's life?!'"
