CM Punk has reportedly left the WWE after he told Vince McMahon personally on Monday that he was going home and then boarded a plane to Chicago. The report first came from Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com.
WWE.com has since removed CM Punk from all upcoming live events, including Monday Night Raw, and house shows, though he is still listed for Elimination Chamber on Feb. 23 in Minneapolis.
Alvarez reported that Punk's departure could lead to a change at WrestleMania 30, in that the planned match between Triple H and CM Punk could now turn into a match between Triple H and Daniel Bryan, who was originally reported as a lock to face Sheamus.
Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer later reported that WWE did not expect Punk to quit so abruptly, but they did plan for his departure once his contract expires in July.
PWInsider.com reports that initial creative plans for Punk on Raw would have had him either lose a match with Antonio Cesaro after interference by Kane or he would have cut a promo about his time in the Royal Rumble match.
Wrestlezone.com subsequently reported through a source's confirmation that CM Punk's leaving is not a work or a part of any upcoming storyline.
Prowrestling.net also posted the comments of a fan who attended Comic Con in Portland last weekend. CM Punk took questions from the audience, and one question was about Batista. Punk said he and "Dave" are good friends but he was upset that he was getting a slot in the main event of WrestleMania 30. He also said this is "Daniel Bryan's year." Punk later said when asked for his thoughts on the current WWE product, "I show up. Someone tells me what to do and I just go out there and do it."
