Many fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe figured it was only a matter of time until the studio took steps toward a third installment in the Thor franchise, and Marvel has done exactly that with its latest announcement.
Marvel announced that Craig Kyle, who wrote the X-Force and New X-Men comics but also produced the Thor and Thor: The Dark World movies, would serve as a script co-writer for Thor 3. He will work with longtime collaborator Christopher Yost on the project. Kyle previously served as Senior Vice President and Development at Marvel Studios and was also the executive producer on Thor: The Dark World, for which Yost co-wrote the screenplay.
"I am proud of Craig and have enjoyed working with him over these past years," said Marvel Studios President of Production Kevin Feige. "His creative instincts have helped shape Thor and Thor: The Dark World at every level of the filmmaking process. The entire team at Marvel is very happy to continue collaborating with Craig as he continues as a screenwriter working with Christopher on the forthcoming chapter of Thor's adventure."
The announcement did not make any reference to the plot of the film, but many fans have speculated that the third installment would focus on Surtur, the Fire Demons and Ragnarok, the end of days in Norse mythology.
What do you think, Marvel fans? Will Thor 3 feature Surtur and the Fire Demons, or will Marvel go in a different direction? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
