Philip Seymour Hoffman's tragic death brought up some questions in terms of production on the upcoming Hunger Games sequels, Mockingjay Part 1 and Part 2. Though the Academy Award winner filmed most of his scenes for the two-part conclusion of the popular series, there was one crucial part that had yet to be filmed. But now it looks like Lionsgate has found a solution to this unfortunate situation. According to sources, Hoffman's final scene will be finished digitally.

There were reports that his death wouldn't affect the film's production or release date, and it looks like this came true. Thanks to the technology in filmmaking, Hoffman's final, crucial scene will still be filmed but a digital stand-in will be used.
"You can do digital things, you can have conversations where you're not focusing on him but the people he's talking to," an insider close to the project said.
Meanwhile, veteran effects supervisor Rob Legato backs up this statement.
"These days the technology of using someone's likeness is a whole lot easier to do," he said. "I won't say you could generate a Philip Seymour Hoffman with all the acting ability, but you could certainly replicate him for a shot or two."
