The CW was in a gift-giving mood on Thursday as the network announced that it had given early renewals to Supernatural, Arrow, The Vampire Diaries, Reign and The Originals.
Supernatural will return for its tenth season next fall, while The Vampire Diaries will be back for Season 6. The network's most-watched show, Arrow, will return for a third season, while Reign and The Originals have each been renewed for second seasons.
"This season we've had great success with our new hit series The Originals paired with Supernatural, giving us our best Tuesday nights in years," CW President Mark Pedowitz said in a statement. "The Vampire Diaries is No. 2 in its time period in the young adult demos, and with Arrow continuing to gain among young men, and Reign growing its time period, we now have strong nights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. I'm very pleased to announce early pickups for all five series, and let our fans know they'll have more great drama to look forward to next season."
The renewals leave Hart of Dixie, Beauty and the Beast, The Tomorrow People and The Carrie Diaries still up in the air for next season.
Pedowitz said at the Television Critics Association press tour last month that Supernatural could continue indefinitely as long as it maintains its current pace.
"As a fan of the show who's seen every episode, as long as I'm here and those numbers hold, God bless them," he said. "They can go as long as they want."
