Production of The Avengers: Age of Ultron is underway in the U.K., but that production reportedly came to a sudden stop thanks to inclement weather in the area.
Hollywood.com reports via British newspaper The Sun that production on The Avengers 2 "ground to a halt" after a flooding scare at the studio in Surrey. Some of the cast members were scheduled to go to the studio for camera tests and costume fittings this week, but the appointments were canceled after the severe flooding in the area. The town of Shepperton, located in Surrey, has been suffering for much of the month from floods that have left parts of the U.K. underwater.
Filming in South Africa has also begun in South Africa ahead of the scheduled shoot in Surrey.
As MStars previously reported, some of the filming on the superhero sequel will take place on location around the world, and South Africa is one such location. SA Breaking News reported earlier this week that The Avengers 2 would begin shooting in Johannesburg, as the site informed local residents of road closures related to the production. The content of the shoot was unclear.
Previous reports speculated that South Africa would transform into the nation of Wakanda, the home of the Black Panther, but subsequent reports noted that the nation would in fact just serve as itself for the sequel. Other reports speculated that the first few minutes of the film could feature newcomers Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen) and Baron von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann). If true, then perhaps this is the focus of this week's South African shoot.
