Ashanti is back and ready to release her long anticipated new studio album "Braveheart" on March 4, 2014 on Written Entertainment/ Entertainment One (eOne). The singers new single, "I Got It" featuring Rick Ross is out right now.
The video for the single premiered on BET's countdown show "106th and Park" and Ashanti will be shooting the video for her next single "First Real Love," later this month in Jamaica with reggae superstar Beenie Man.
Ashanti is currently writing music for the soundtrack of the new film Tupac, that will be released by Morgan Creek in 2015.
Late last year, the singer received the 2013 Soul Train Award for Best Independent R&B/Soul Performance for "Never Should Have," this song was a previous single featured on the forthcoming Written Entertainment/eOne release "Braveheart."
Ashanti starred as "Teanna," a store consultant, in Lifetime's holiday movie, Christmas in the City. She was also featured in the network's It's a Wonderful Life campaign with her version of "Let It Snow." Ashanti also released a 5 song digital holiday EP titled "A Wonderful Christmas with Ashanti."
Ashanti's smash hit debut album, the self-titled Ashanti, sold over 500,000 units in its first week and landed her the #1 spot on both the Billboard Top 200 and R&B album charts, and a place in the Guinness Book of World Records for the most albums sold by a debut female artist. In addition, her first three chart entries landed in the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time, making Billboard history, tying the Beatles. In the same year, Ashanti's album "Ashanti" won the Grammy for Best Contemporary R&B Album, eight Billboard Awards, two American Music Awards and she was presented with the Soul Train Aretha Franklin Entertainer of the Year Award. Ashanti has also appeared in many films including, Coach Carter, John Tucker Must Die, Resident Evil 4, her television shows roles include, the 2013 season of Army Wives on Lifetime, and she also recorded four more albums, started a poetry book, and starred on Broadway and while launching the fragrance, Precious Jewel.
