Scandal Season 3 spoilers on Olivia, Fitz and Mellie triangle

The long wait for the return of Season 3 of Scandal is almost over, as the Shonda Rhimes hit comes back in less than a week on Thursday, Feb. 27. Until then, fans of the show must make due with teases and spoilers here and there, and we've got some this time on Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington), President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie Grant (Bellamy Young).

The "Matt's Inside Line" column at TVLine reports the following about the trio:

"I would love to hear anything Scandal-related, especially on the Fitz/Olivia/Mellie front. -Mandy
Fitz/Olivia/Mellie is precisely what you'll get - though not in the best of ways - as the midseason premiere opens. (All told, 'Olitz' fans can expect :-O :*-( and : D moments, though not in that order.) Oh, and the lunch date teased in this video? You can only imagine what Mellie proposes in the name of making a 'respectable woman' out of her rival."

The show has repeatedly gone back to the love affair between Olivia and Fitz and, consequently, the triangle between the three characters. Fitz and Olivia are clearly in love, but Fitz is married to Mellie. And Mellie knows that Fitz needs Olivia in his life to succeed, so she would be invaluable as Fitz's reelection campaign begins.

As for that lunch video, it's possible that Mellie is again trying to recruit Olivia to run the campaign, though she seems to be going about it in her typical Mellie fashion.
