Lena Dunham has her own hit show, Girls, on HBO, which has drawn its fair share of controversy for the portrayal of its characters. Regardless, the show remains an attraction in HBO's lineup and has made Dunham's name known to a wider audience. But the actress wants to briefly make the jump to network television, specifically ABC's hit Scandal.
Dunham appeared on Grantland's B.S. Report with Bill Simmons and revealed her desire to guest star alongside Kerry Washington, who famously plays Olivia Pope, on the Shonda Rhimes hit.
"Basically, my life's great passion is the idea of being a guest star on Scandal," Dunham said. "I want to be like, a senator who did something wrong." She went on to say that she is probably too young to play a senator, but that "playing a really evil character, it would be really fun."
Unfortunately, this dream may have to remain a dream, as Girls has surged in popularity and her commitments to that show could prevent her from mixing it up with the Scandal crew.
"I don't think I'm technically allowed to," Dunham said.
Dunham's love of Scandal has been made public in the past, according to E! Online. As she talked with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet at the 2013 Emmy Awards, Honeland star Claire Danes (who had recently had a baby) interrupted to thank her for introducing her to the show.
"You told me to get on that jam, to get on that Scandal jam because you were visiting when I just had Cyrus," Danes said. "You were like, 'You're going to be nursing and you need to watch this amazing show.'"
