The second half of Season 4 of AMC's The Walking Dead is in full swing and returns Sunday night with another brand new installment, "Claimed." Last week's episode focused on the rest of the survivors in the wake of the Governor's attack on the prison, but the new episode will return to Rick (Andrew Lincoln), Carl (Chandler Riggs) and Michonne (Danai Gurira).

E! Online reports that Michonne and Carl will go on a journey to gather supplies, while Rick recovers at the suburban home in which they have been hiding. But of course, it wouldn't be a supply run without plenty of danger in the form of zombies.

The episode will also featured another peek into Michonne's backstory, but this one will be much sadder than the previous, brief look at her happy life. Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd revealed that her backstory would divert somewhat from the comics.

"Obviously, as with everything in our show, there are changes from what's in the comic book, but it's clearly an element [that we're going to explore]," she said.

As for Carl, his emotional journey throughout Season 4 will continue, and Hurd teased a deeper reason behind it all.

"This is a child who's had to shoot his mother who was going to turn into a walker, and had to shoot Shane, who was like a surrogate father to him," she said. "Any relationship between a father and a son, especially a son going through puberty and becoming a teenager, is going to be fraught with difficulty. And that's amplified by the fact that they're now separated from the rest of the group, and Rick still isn't in good shape, so I think it's likely that the balance will go back and forth as to who needs who more."

Finally, Hurd said that the trio would not be looking for the rest of their group just yet.

"What they have to do is put their own safety first. That's paramount at this point," she said. "You always have to weigh what's expedient, what's safe, and what it is you'd really like to do, and that's part of the decision making tree that all of our characters face in the separation."
