By now you've seen the slew of promotional and set photos for the upcoming Bryan Singer film X-Men: Days of Future Past, so you've probably seen Nicholas Hoult as his mutant character Beast and out of his mutant form as Dr. Hank McCoy. Seeing him in human form may be a bit confusing to fans of the series that might wonder how the character managed to get back out of his advanced mutation. Well thanks to ta new interview with Joblo, Hoult explains how his character pulls this off.
"Between the time of the last movie and this movie my character has created a serum which basically controls his mutation so his appearance is normal as long as he doesn't get worked up," Hoult explained. "Any animal instinct or urges, that kind of brings him out."
Though people might be a little turned off at this feature of the film, the comic book character did have ways to alter his appearance from his mutant form. For instance he would wear masks and other costumes, and also had a cloaking device. So it isn't far fetched or even out of character.
Anyway, this seems like an okay system to keep Hoult out of the full-body suit while filming. The same can be said for his girlfriend and costar Jennifer Lawrence who wears a body suit and tons of makeup for her role as Mystique.
