Making the cover of Vogue should be a big moment in anyone's life and Lena Dunham kinda had her moment ruined when Jezebel went on a hunt for Dunham's unretouched photos. Dunham has since spoken out about the incident but she's still upset about how it all went down.
In a recent interview with Bill Simmons of Grantland, the Girls actress talked photoshopped images and her beef with Jezebel.
"That was messed up," Dunham said. "I think Jezebel is really smart and funny, I think it's just like once you've been attacked that way it's hard to enjoy. It's hard to enjoy once you feel like they've made such a monumental error in their approach to feminism."
How did this all go down some may ask. It all started when Jezebel put out a bounty for the untouched photos and one of the site's readers just so happened to get their hands on six of them.
Jezebel editor Jessica Coen spoke on the incident saying the site didn't mean to shame Dunham.
Here's what Dunham had to say:
"For me it was just sort of - I can't be half-in. It felt gross. I didn't talk to [Coen] who did it directly, but I can't imagine the reaction made her feel particularly great."
Dunham says once the photos went viral she began to have some doubts about herself.
"Once they did post the unretouched images of me that looked so similar - I was kind of scared to see the unretouched images of me," Dunham continued. "I was like, 'maybe I'm delusional in this and I don't look how I think I look."
Do you think the site was wrong for posting the original photos?
