Today in Uganda, a tabloid published a 'Top 200 Homosexuals' list. The publication comes a day after Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni signed into law a bill that made homosexuality punishable by life in prison.  The bill was introduced in 2009 and originally included a death penalty clause for some homosexual acts.

The cover of the Red Pepper newspaper read, "EXPOSED! Uganda's 200 Top Homos Named."According to the BBC, Red Pepper Magazine is one of the country's biggest selling papers.

"They're disgusting. What sort of people are they?" Museveni told CNN's afterward.  Museveni had Ugandan scientists researching the root of homosexuality, whether it be "learned" or genetic.  "I never knew what they were doing. I've been told recently that what they do is terrible. Disgusting. But I was ready to ignore that if there was proof that that's how he is born, abnormal. But now the proof is not there," he said.

In 2011, a similar list was published in another Ugandan magazine, Rolling Stone (not affiliated with Werner Media's Rolling Stone Magazine). The headline read, "100 Pictures of Uganda's Top Homos Leak," and a tag line of the article said, "Hang Them." David Kato, a prominent gay rights advocate, was brutally murdered shortly after he was named in the publication as a gay man, according to the New York Times.

The New York Times article reported that, "The paper said homosexuals were raiding schools and recruiting children, a belief that is quite widespread in Uganda and has helped drive the homophobia."

Some celebrities have taken to Twitter to spread the word about the dangerous law.
