On a day with little happening Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew ensured the press would have a headline to work with. The veteran manager was involved in a few negative moments, which ended with him head butting rival player, David Meyler, getting himself sent off in the process. Pardew is no stranger to controversy, but this is a new low for him. He will likely be fined and banned for several games for hos inexcusable action. Luckily for Pardew his players kept their discipline and finished the game in fine fashion, with a 4-1 victory over Hull.

The Football Association will investiagte the matter and he could face many charges for his momnet of madness. The 52-year-old manager was quick to apologize and play it down telling the BBC "I did not mean any damage to the guy but I have moved my head forward. I tried to push him away with my head. I apologise to everyone. I should not have got involved in it."

Meyler had been rushing to get the ball as his team were 3-1 down and he shoved past Pardew who reacted badly, resulting in the pair facing one another, but Pardew lost his cool. In response all of the players and staff clashed. The referee was able to sort the dramtic situation, by sending Pardew off and yellow carding Meyler.

Pardew continued saying "I don't think it was a headbutt. It wasn't a motion that was quick." It's unlikely the football authorities will see it that way.
