Last month, MStars reported that Rihanna won a multi-million dollar settlement against her former accountant and we just got wind that the ex-financial manager for Pearl Jam will be going to prison for embezzling money from the band.
Billboard reports that a former financial officer for Pearl Jam has been sentenced to 14 months in prison for embezzling more than $300,000.
According to the Seattle Times, Superior Court Judge Roger Rogoff agreed Friday (Feb. 28) to allow Rickey Goodrich to remain free from jail for two weeks to get his financial affairs in order. Goodrich will return in two weeks for formal sentencing.
Back in December, Goodrich pleaded guilty to six counts of first-degree theft. Prosecutors say Goodrich used company accounts to pay personal debts, fund lavish family vacations, spa treatments, life insurance and pricey California wines.
Prosecutors also say he has already paid back $125,000 and has agreed to pay more in restitution.
Goodrich initially entered a plea agreement. As part of the agreement, if the balance of restitution was paid before sentencing, the state would recommend a six-month jail sentence.
Goodrich's lawyer originally sought out probation.
Court papers show Goodrich worked as chief financial officer for Curtis, Inc., the management company owned by the band's manager Kelly Curtis.
Goodrich was hired by Pearl Jam Touring Co. in 2005 and the next year he was named chief financial officer for Curtis Inc.
The Times also reports that Goodrich was fired in September 2010.
He was charged with theft in 2012.
