Rihanna Chris Brown Attack: Police Escape Charge over Leaked Pictures

LA police officers accused of leaking photos to TMZ.com of Rihanna battered after the infamous Chris Brown assault will not face criminal charges, authorities have ruled.

Officers Blanca Lopez and Rebecca Reyes allegedly sent photos of the bruised and beaten Where have You Been singer to celebrity website Tmz.com within hours of the incident in 2009.

According to the LA Times, prosecutors decided after a three-year internal investigation that there was not enough evidence to prove that the site paid officers for the photos.

"Although both Reyes and Lopez's actions are suspicious, they are insufficient to support a criminal prosecution," said investigators.

Lopez and Reyes will still appear before disciplinary panels in August and risk being sacked by the LAPD.

Brown, 23, was arrested on suspicion after assaulting Rihanna after a pre-Grammy bash in February 2009.

He was ordered to serve five years on supervised probation and to complete six months' community service after pleading guilty.

Rihanna's attorney, Donald Etra told the Daily Mail that he does not know whether Rihanna wants to pursue further legal action.

"This was an internal decision by the district attorney. A victim's privacy should be protected," Etra said.
