Outspoken Brand Nubian emcee Lord Jamar has some major criticism when it comes to white rappers within the hip-hop industry. Apparently, the controversial "Lift Up Your Skirt" singer respects MMLP2 rapper Eminem, but can't say the same when it comes to Grammy Award-winning performer Macklemore.
In a recent interview with VladTV, Lord Jamar goes on a rather heated (and explicit) rant about Mackelmore's role in the world of hip-hop. Jamar doesn't agree that Macklemore deserves his four recent wins at the 2014 Grammy Awards:
"How the f*ck are you going to circumvent the creators of the genre? I don't know any black people that have Macklemore's album. Not a one. What I know to be a true Hip Hop fan, or a Hip Hop enthusiast, or where Hip Hop truly comes from - nobody has a Macklemore album. We're in a climate now where we have the Macklemores and the f*cking Pu$$ywolf and all these other motherf*ckers, who black people have never heard of. Never heard one song."
He goes on to explain:
"At least we heard Enimem songs before. They making money. And it's no longer saying, 'We have to come through the channels of real Hip Hop to be accepted.' They're like, 'F*ck y'all motherf*ckers. I got all these white a$$ fans. I don't need y'all black motherf*ckers.'
Jamar feels that white hip-hop artists including Macklemore and Yelawolf are "ignoring" the black Hip Hop fanbase - but not Slim Shady.
"Eminem is a different kind of story. He came up worshiping black emcees. He was the first one that white people were able to look up to and worship. But you gotta look at the altar he originally worshiped at. It was the altar of the black emcee. He did the study."
The Nations of God and Earth advocate then adds, "putting in that time to do the knowledge to the history that you're coming to. Eminem is one of those dudes. That's why I can respect him."
Jamar continues bashing Macklemore throughout the interview with no shame.
Well, do Mstars readers agree? Or is Jamar way out of line with his criticism (again)?
