Australian actor and singer Jason Donovan said that he is yet to speak with singer Kylie Minogue regarding their reunion and duet performance for the upcoming "Stock, Aitken and Waterman Hit Factory Concert" in August in Hyde Park, London. Donovan and Minogue are included in the list of the concert's headline acts who released hit singles under Mike Stock, Matt Aitken and Peter Waterman.
Meanwhile, Donovan said that rehearsals with Minogue will only take a couple of hours to nail the song "Especially For You." If their reunion performance will push through, it would definitely be the first time that Donovan and Minogue singing the hit song live after 25 years. "No, I haven't spoken to her, at all,'' Donovan said. "Once I get back to the UK next week I will sink myself into all that but I haven't got my head around it just yet. We'll have a rehearsal and we'll just do it," he further shared.
Jason Donovan said that he feels privileged to be part of the artists that Stock, Aitken and Waterman helped on the way up to fame and become stable. The song "Especially For You" meant a lot to Donovan because for him, as a singer, it certainly changed his life as an artist. "The day is going to be special and it's not because of Especially For You, it's about Stock, Aitken and Waterman who were incredible producers. It's a celebration of their music and it's obviously punctuated with the fact Kylie and I are going to do a duet after many, many years,'' he said.
The Australian actor and singer admitted that he still performs the song and gets paid for it but he said that he would become a lot richer if he acquired the talents of Stock, Aitken and Waterman. The trio wrote and produced the 1988 pop hit "Especially For You" and it has reached number one in the United Kingdom and several other European countries and it was number two in Australia.
By the time the song became a certified hit and appeared on the United Kingdom charts, Donovan and Minogue were already in the process of carving out their respective music and acting careers. The two have also gained popularity from the Australian TV series "Neighbours." An estimated 20 million viewers watched their wedding on the drama series and it gave them an instant fan base.
Donovan is currently in Australia for Network Ten's reality talent search "I Will Survive." He said that he will start thinking about his appearance at the Hit Factory when he gets back in the United Kingdom. Rick Astley, Bananarama and Dead or Alive are the other music artists that will appear on the July 11 concert.
