He also comments on the much-maligned casting of Ben Affleck as Batman. "I think [his casting] is a wonderful idea. He's a lovely man and an interesting actor," Irons said. "I'm looking forward to getting to know him. I've only met him once."

After months of waiting, Batman vs. Superman has begun filming in Michigan. Residents in the Metamora township stated on a news report that filming had begun over the weekend in the Caley Road area.
The report does not state if any of the main cast members, such as Henry Cavill or Ben Affleck, were on location for the first bits of filming. The residents said in the report that construction had been ongoing since February, with security crews as a constant presence throughout the area. The residents received letters to inform them of the construction.
