Since bursting on to the scene early last year, New Zealand teen Lorde has inspired a rash of covers. Her off-kilter pop hits have been covered by names as diverse as Bruce Springsteen, CHVRCHES, Selena Gomez and Rick Ross. However, not one of those artists took the route of Nirvana's Krist Novoselic, busting out the accordian for a take on her omni-present single "Royals."
"I'm obsessed with the accordion," Novoselic told Fuse during a 2012 interview. "You know how some people have dark obsessions, that are embarrassing or self-destructive? My obsession is accordion playing. I have to play every day and I play it for hours. I play polkas and I play Beatles songs and Rolling Stones songs and Nirvana songs."
Novolselic was recently voted in to the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame, alongside the rest of Nirvana.
Of course, this still isn't the strangest cover of "Royals" around. That title will likely forever belong to one Puddles The Clown.
