My Black is Beautiful is back and ready to take action. Lisa Nichols, the spokesperson for this campaign, took sometime out to explain the 30 day challenge, Imagine a Future, and the ambassador activities.

This great campaign encourages, and celebrates the efforts of young black girls who put their beauty into action to benefit their community.

In its second year of its Imagine A Future program - which seeks to reach and teach one million black girls to believe her Black is Beautiful - MBIB is challenging its community of Black women to redefine what it means to be beautiful on their own terms and by their own actions...and to put their "Beauty in Action."

Star: Tell us about My Black is Beautiful and what women can expect this year.

Lisa Nichols: It is a program designed to excite black women anywhere and everywhere, to redefine what beauty looks like, to redefine beauty with a new face that includes your integrity and the value of your character, your personality.

You know we may be defined in media, as the most beautiful, but what does beauty really look like? My Black is Beautiful campaign started in 2006, and it has really been about, how do we redefine  the essence of beauty in a woman's eyes, and then it moved on to "Imagine a Future" which the goal  is to reach a million of African American girls and really show them at an earlier age what beauty looks like.

With all the challenges you go through as a young woman, and as a teen, and your early 20s. What does it look like for black women to reach back in a responsible way, and to celebrate having mocha skin, full lips, round hips, cinnamon skin, kinky curly hair. This campaign is about what does it look like to demonstrate my beauty on a daily basis.

Now we are in the "Beauty in Action" component where we are really looking at what does it mean to show beauty in action. How do I demonstrate who I am, how do I demonstrate what my values are on a daily basis.

We started our 30 challenge on March 10, where 30 days of "Beauty in Action" would get 1.5 million African American women inside of our Facebook community will begin to participate on what it looks like to put my "Beauty in Action."

Everyday will be a video that has inspiration and guidance of the "Beauty and Action" challenge. This will be the largest conversation about African American women, in an empowering way.

1.5 million women reaching out to a million of African American girls, all having a conversation over a 30 day period, and putting it in action; it is very very exciting.

Star: What is a beauty ambassador, and who are you looking for to become an ambassador?

Lisa Nichols:  They should go to #BIASearch, "Beauty in Action" search. The new face of the beauty ambassador will demonstrate character, you don't have to be a size 2 or a runway model. It is about redefining the face of beauty. The first thing I would do is go and read the guidelines, we are going to gather in 4 cities and have a great big celebration and talk about what it looks like.

I will be one of the judges, and I can tell you that I am looking for demonstration of self love and how you represent beauty by who you be, not by how much make up you have one, or the brand clothes you have. Like the way you serve someone, you don't just serve people when the lights are on, but what you do when no one is looking.

How do you love the unlovable, how do you forgive the unforgiving. How are you walking and demonstrating a wholelistc woman. How are you walking and demonstrating the things that our grandmothers taught us, and living them out today.

It's about character, it's about self love, perseverance, and presence. It's about self confidence and the love for others. It is far more then skin deep you get a lot of information at the "BIASearch," #BIASearch and we will be adding more to it.

This ambassador can be anyone. So this is for that sister that thought she could never try out and win or represent something, this is that thing for her, and we are excited.

Star: Explain each campaign.

Lisa Nichols: "Imagine a future" is for the younger ladies, the 1 million young girls that we want to touch. The "Beauty in Action"  30 day challenge, that's just a challenge, the prize is living out each day, the benefit of that is how you will feel at the end of the challenge. It is 2 minutes or less a day, I designed the challenges to take you no longer than 15 minutes a day. I wanted to make it so you have "micro wins" we have goals sometimes and you want "macro wins" so the prize of that is what you personally experience. The "Beauty in Action" search you have to apply, and we will have several live events, and judges. If you are selected for the ambassador for the new face, that is when you will begin to do a whole campaign.
