Manchester United have had a torrid season and it looks likely that they'll keep the faith in struggling manager David Moyes, but if they do decide to let him go in the summer, have they lost sight of targets good enough to take the job? Both Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola would both be ideal but are currently managing better clubs, who both have a lot more to offer than United. So, for those of you wondering, here are the contenders to replace Moyes if the situation comes to fruition.
The main contender would surely be Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp. The talented manager has an impressive resume, he's young and could provide United with exactly what they're in desperate need of, a confident team, full of attacking flair. He has taken Dortmund far, as proven with their Champions League final place last season, but can he take them further? The manager may feel the challenge of Old Trafford is too good to turn down. He would be the first choice of many.
Could United look to ex player Gary Neville, who's proven his credentials and knowledge as a pundit/commentator, or could they look to current, experienced player Ryan Giggs? Somebody who understands the club and everything Sir Alex Ferguson brought could be the right direction to turn to.
Other contenders include Fabio Capello, who's been successful in every role other than his England international role, although some would argue that their expectations were higher than the talent he had to work with. He would provide the much needed stability, but he wouldn't be the answer for a long duration in charge, so would they be better in turning to Klopp or Neville?
It doesn't seem likely that United will fire Moyes, but if he carries on his horrid start it is a distinct possibility and the club will be targeting the likes of these managers, but they will consider many options to avoid another period of failure brought on by Moyes.
