MStars has learned that an arrest warrant has been issued for legendary singer, Anita Baker.
According to NJ.com a warrant was issued by a company that claims Baker, who is a Detroit native owes $15, 000 for work that she did on her Grosse Pointe, Michigan home.
"We certainly would have liked to resolve it before now. We just want to try to get my client his money," attorney Daniel Gerow told reporters. Gerow, who represents Ray Smith Painting and Decorating, claims Baker failed to appear in court. "We're not trying to give her any hard time or anything unnecessary. We just would like to collect the money for my client. He's owed the money, and that could end it all right then."
The Grammy Award-winning singer's lawyer, Jamal Hamood said that he was planning on filing a motion last Friday to cancel the warrant. Baker's lawyer also said that the 56-year-old "Sweet Love"singer wasn't served with papers and she was unaware that she had been sued in 2011 by the painting company. Baker's lawyer also mention that his client was out of town plans on staying away until the warrant dispute is all fixed.
This is not the only time the singer has been under fire with the law. In 2010, a judge threatened to send her to jail for refusing to sign documents regarding her divorce issues. Baker waited till time ran out to sign the documents which resulted in a last-minute agreement as she avoided jail time.
MStars thinks the singer has told the company that she is "Giving You the Best That I Got."
