Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins have long been pitted against one another in the battle to be the number one pick in the 2014 NBA draft, and it looked like we'd have a better idea of which would top the other in their first-round matches of the NCAA tournament, and indeed we do. Parker's Duke fell short, and were eliminated, while Andrew Wiggins dominated, leading his second-seeded Kansas to a 80-69 victory over Eastern Kentucky.
At times there were worries that Wiggins' team were going to suffer the same fate suffered by Duke hours earlier, but they showed resilience, determination and the skill needed to win, and to make it in the NBA. While Parker had an all-round low par game, Wiggins scored 19 points, and led his team to the next round, although he was helped by fellow stars Jamari Traylor and Perry Ellis.
Although March Madness does not entirely determine the NBA draft, it can have a huge impact, and it looks like this could be the case here. Many have long struggled to separate Parker and Wiggins, stating minor differences as the reason, but with Wiggins progressing (and performing better), critics may finally have a reason to justify him being selected over his rival, Parker.
Will this change the way the teams view the pair, and would you now select Wiggins at number one over Parker? Either way, it's clear the pair will go head-to-head for years to come. Can Wiggins increase his draft stock and take his Kansas Jayhawks to the Final Four, or further?
