It's been a rough season for Wayne Rooney, David Moyes and their Manchester United team, but it appears things might be changing for them and they might finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. After their Champions League glory, United knew they'd have to get back on track in their away fixture against West Ham. No problem for many sides, but this was exactly the kind of game United had suffered defeat in this season. However, Wayne Rooney's double ensured United would smile once again.
With no Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney needed to step his game up, and he did exactly that. Rooney is now the third in United's all-time top goalscorers with 212 goals, but his superb shot from near the halfway line opened the scoring. With the keeper scrambling back, Rooney took the ball and belted it in the goal, scoring one of the best goals in Premier League history.
The goal drew comparisons to David Beckham's famous halfway finish during his time as a Manchester United career, and funnily enough the former star was at the game watching. Beckham covered his mouth in shock, in disbelief at the stunning goal he'd just witnessed.
Rooney's second goal was less spectacular, but was just as important none the less. It appears Rooney is in form, happy again and wants to ensure United finish the season as successfully as possible. Can Rooney fire United to Champions League glory, and can he take this form to the World Cup when he represents England this summer?
