Years before the 2014 NBA Draft many were trying to predict who'd be number one in this years class. It's full of top talents, and both Jabari Parker and Andrew Wiggins were considered the front-runners a long time before they even stepped foot on a NCAA basketball court. Throughout their first college season many have switched time and time again between the two, but Parker's future is still up in the air, whilst rival Wiggins moved a step closer to the NBA today, by declaring for the draft, making him, for now, the most likely number one pick once again.
At his press conference he said, "I'd like to give glory to God for giving me this opportunity. At the end of the day, I decided I was going to enter the draft. It wasn't an easy decision, because the fans showed me so much love. ... I wish I had more time, college goes by so fast."
For a long while Wiggins has suggested he'd be a one-and-done player, making himself an NBA star as soon as possible, whilst some choose to stay in college to develop their game for a little while longer.
During his first NCAA season, Wiggins, 19, averaged 17.1 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Although both himself and Parker, and their respective teams, flopped in the NCAA tournament, he, unlike Parker, did himself no harm and still performed admirably.
Should Wiggins be selected number one, or will Parker pip him to the finish line? Which would you take?
