The April 4, 2014 edition of WWE's Friday Night Smackdown is unique in that it features few matches and essentially serves as hype for WrestleMania 30 on Sunday. WWE taped the show at the Verizon Center in Washington D.C. prior to the live edition of Monday Night Raw earlier this week on March 31.
The show starts with Hulk Hogan, who comes out and talks about his favorite WrestleMania memories. He hypes the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Sunday.
Dolph Ziggler defeats Titus O'Neil.
The Real Americans defeat Los Matadores in a tag team match. Cesaro and Zeb Colter start to get into it a little during this match as opposed to the recent friction between Cesaro and Jack Swagger. It appears as though WWE wants to tease a breakup of the Real Americans yet again.
That's pretty much it. WWE only taped three segments for Smackdown, as the rest will likely be video packages hyping the various matches on Sunday. They could even be the same video packages that will air prior to the matches during WrestleMania 30.
What do you think? Are you surprised WWE didn't do a bit more for this edition of Smackdown, or does it make sense that the company would want to get it out of the way so that everyone can get down to New Orleans for WrestleMania? What sorts of video packages do you expect to see on Friday and on Sunday? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
