Katy Perry and Kacey Musgraves are teaming up for an episode of CMT's hit series 'Crossroads.'

The episode, which will air June 13th at 10 p.m. will follow in the typical format of the show, where artists from different genres come together to duet on each other's hit singles.

This won't be the first time that these two have worked together; last October Perry invited Musgraves to join her at the "We Can Survive" charity show at the Hollywood Bowl. They have also teamed up together in the studio, writing songs with each other, hopefully some fans will be hearing on 'Crossroads.'

Perry, who invited Musgrave to join her on her upcoming Prismatic Tour as one of her opening acts, gushes about her fondness for the country singer to Billboard.

"I have been a fan and a friend of hers from the beginning, always championing her prolific songs every opportunity I get. To me, Kacey Musgraves is an artist that should be a household name because she offers a unique perspective with her writing style.  It's going to be a blast to play on each other's songs this Crossroads. It will be a preview to our Prismatic World Tour road trip this summer which I can't wait for!"

Musgrave's who could be considered the Perry of country music told Billboard

"I've been such a huge fan of Katy and her vision since I found out about her. And since she's found out about me, she's been an amazing light and friend to me. So joining forces with her for Crossroads is going to be incredible. In some ways we're on opposite ends of the spectrum, but in a lot of ways our music makes total sense together. Her songs, while having grit, are so fun and it'll be a cool challenge to throw a little country on 'em. I love her brain and her heart and I can't wait for our two musical worlds to collide!"

Perry's manager, Bradford Cobb and John Hamlin, senior VP of music events for CMT, have been trying to get Katy on the show for years, but Cobb says he was waiting for just the right artist for her to duet with.

Hamlin goes on to tell Billboard that "[Cobb's] always loved the format, understood how important this audience is and has really been patient with me trying to find the right thing. And then Kacey Musgraves comes along, and her manager Jason Owen instinctively knew what a great pairing this would be. We couldn't do it until everything lined up properly in their promotional schedules and their careers. Katy just happened to have just enough time before she starts tour rehearsals in the U.K., and Kacey had lined up enough hits on the radio for this to all work out."

This pairing is sure to follow in the legendary footsteps of past episodes of 'Crossroads', which has featured duets between Sugarland and Bon Jovi, Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, and Carrie Underwood and Steven Tyler. All spawning hit collaborations including Sugarland and Bon Jovi's "Who Says You Can't Go Home", and Plants and Krauss's five time Grammy winning album "Raising Sand."

The show, which airs June 13th on CMT, will also air on CMT, VH1, MTV, MTV Hits and Palliade, making it the first time that this is set to happen. Dates for those broadcastings are yet to be released.
