Love and Hip Hop ATL's Benzino flashed gun at nephew, Gai Scott before getting shot during Mother's funeral?

Love and Hip Hop: ATL's reality star Benzino's nephew, Gai Scott is claiming he shot his uncle after many death threats and feared for his and his family's lives.

According to the Boston Globe, the family dispute at the rapper's mother's funeral derived from threats made through text and some words exchanged at the funeral.

 "Gai Scott told police that his uncle had been sending him text messages threatening to kill him in the week before the shooting and that he purchased a firearm to protect himself."

 According to a report filed by State Trooper Robert M. Klimas' report, Benzino allegedly flashed a gun at his nephew after pulling up next to him at the funeral procession saying, "You got a problem with me," Klimas wrote

"Gai stated that Raymond reached down low and when Raymond raised his hand he 'flashed' a gun at Gai." Shortly after , Gai admitted to pulling out his 9mm Walther pistol until he ran out of ammunition and continued to fire his .45-caliber gun before loading his 9mm firearm.

Gai has been charged with assault with intent to murder.

According to the Associated Press, the rapper and reality star was driving his SUV along the procession when his 36-year-old family member, Gai Scott pulled alongside and fired several shots. The reality star struck in the arm and grazed by a bullet on his back. Gai was later charged with assault with intent to murder and will be arraigned Monday.

In an interview with CBS in Boston, the rapper explaind the dramatic scene:

"As I got to the beginning of the procession where the hearse was, the perpetrator rolled down a car window and started shooting and shooting. They wouldn't let me in. I had blood all over me. I didn't want to be around them. I felt like, I didn't want any problems. I can love my mother and there doesn't have to be any problems with family. I looked over, there was a car, and all I saw was a gun shooting at me, firing seven or eight shots. I was trying to duck and dodge, drive around it, maneuver the car, I was bleeding a lot. I was driving with my thumb in my shoulder to try to stop the bleeding."
