Mickey Rooney passed away on Sunday at the age of 93. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office are ruling that Rooney died a natural death.
Rooney is a Hollywood legend and award-winning actor who began acting at the age of seven until the day he died at 93. He told The Associate Press in March of 2008, "I always say, 'Don't retire- inspire. There's a lot to be done." It appears that is just what Rooney always intended to do.
Throughout his career he has had notable roles in films such as Thoroughbreds Don't Cry, The Bold and Brave, The Black Stallion, and our personal favorite Breakfast at Tiffany's.
During his career he received two honorary Academy Awards one for his work as a juvenile and one recognizing his fifty years of dedication to film. He also won two Golden Globes and an Emmy for his work in the TV movie Bill where he portrayed the titular character's struggle as a mental handicapped man and how he tries to adapt to a life on his own after leaving an institution.
The five foot three star was often plagued with personal drama. Having dealt with eight failed marriages, bankruptcy, MGM contract disputes, and most recently his claim of elder abuse by his stepson Chistopher Aber in 2011.
During the time of his death he was working on a two film projects, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and Night at the Museum 3 where he reprised his role as Gus . It is unknown if Rooney completed all his scenes for the upcoming movies.
Rooney died at his home in North Hollywood surrounded by his family. He is survived by his 11 children and his wife Jan Chamberlin who he became separated from in May 2013.
