David S. Goyer says DC, Warner Bros. would love cohesive movie universe

Ever since Marvel Studios created its shared movie universe, other studios have scrambled to catch up to cash in on that success. Sony is doing it with The Amazing Spider-Man, Fox with X-Men and DC/Warner Bros. with its Superman and Batman properties.

That latest entry is particularly intriguing thanks to the CW's Arrow, which has introduced numerous DC properties during its two-season run. The show has also spawned a spinoff series, The Flash. Ever since Smallville was on the air, fans have wondered if a DC television series might intersect with a movie or other shows to create a broader universe.

David S. Goyer, the writer of Zack Snyder's Man of Steel and a prominent figure in this DC/Warner Bros. entity, told IGN that the studio would love to make something like that happen, but the time may not be right yet:

"I mean, it's too early. I know that Warner Bros. would love to make their universe more cohesive. There have been a lot of general conversations about that, but it's really, really early. I'm not sure. Marvel has had enormous success, but I'm not sure that everybody should try to emulate them either. It's just been vague conversations so far."

Fans have been anticipating the untitled Batman vs. Superman movie, along with an eventual Justice League film, both of which would surely open up DC's universe for more shared connections among films.
