The cast of Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot finally set its four main heroes, but all good comic book heroes need villains. In this case, that villain is Victor von Doom aka Dr. Doom, one of the most sinister bad guys in Marvel comics.
Variety had reported two weeks ago that Toby Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Dead Man's Shoes, Wrath of the Titans, Warcraft) would step behind the metal mask to play the character, and the actor himself tweeted confirmation of his participation in the movie.
"Thank you for all the support, I'm glad to be working with a wonderful cast."
He then listed off three of the four main actors (Kate Mara, Jamie Bell, Miles Teller) except Michael B. Jordan, but we think the guy just ran out of space in his tweet.
In related news, Mara spoke with IGN and confirmed that she is, in fact, playing the Invisible Woman. But she also revealed the limits of her knowledge about the movie, which is scheduled to start shooting in just a few weeks:
"Well I don't know very much about it, which is weird but true! Umm, all I know is that it's going to be a very different take on the film, which people may not expect . I'm not really familiar with the comic books...I picked up a few when I got the part. I think we're making a very grounded version of a superhero film. I trust Josh Trank's vision as I was a huge fan of Chronicle."
It's possible that she is just keeping her lips sealed, but it's also possible that she truly doesn't know all that much. Either way, we'll likely find out more as the filming begins.
The main five players are now assembled and filming is scheduled to begin next month. What do you think of the cast? Let us know in the comments below.
