The April 18, 2014 edition of WWE's Friday Night Smackdown airs from Nashville and begins with WWE COO Triple H, who opens the show with a promo. He announces that Evolution, which officially reformed on Monday Night Raw, would face The Shield in a six-man tag team match at Extreme Rules.

Intercontinental Champion Big E. defeats Alberto Del Rio by disqualification in the first match of the night.

Paul Heyman comes out and cuts a promo to once again remind fans that Brock Lesnar ended the Undertaker's streak at WrestleMania and that he is the one in 21-1.

Divas Champion Paige beats Aksana in the next match.

Sheamus does an interview backstage.

El Torito defeats Hornswoggle.

Alexander Rusev (w/Lana) defeats R-Truth (w/Xavier Woods) in a squash match. He then destroys Woods after the match.

Santino Marella (w/Emma) defeats Fandango (w/Layla) with a sunset flip. Emma distracts Layla at the end, which allows Santino to pick up the win. After the match, Emma asks for a high five but Santino forgets to take off the cobra, which leads to a comedic moment.

Batista defeats Sheamus with the Batista Bomb in the main event. After the show goes off the air, Batista challenges Sheamus to a Last Man Standing match, which Sheamus wins with a Brogue Kick.

A report posted on Wrestlezone notes the following about the post-show:

"Sheamus grabbed a Warrior-clad little girl from the crowd and carried her around for a bit. It was a touching enough moment that one of the photographers had to wipe away tears. He finished up the evening by signing some autographs and posing for photos. What a class act."
