Don't expect actor James Franco to tell you anything about upcoming movie Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, because until recently the actor didn't even know he was in it.
The sequel to the surprise hit Rise of the Planet of the Apes will take place years after the events of the first film, where a viral plague has wiped out most of humanity, including James Franco's character Will Rodman. The story centers on the genetically evolved apes trying to make peace with the humans who have survived the plague. The peace is short lived as the two species fight to claim dominance over the Earth.
This is probably one of the most buzzed about Ape movies in recent memory, but it's just not as buzz worth to be on star of the film James Franco's radar. Franco stars in a multitude of projects each year, but this is the first time that he has been unaware of his performance in a movie.
Entertainment Weekly caught up with the actor for their summer preview issue to ask him about his posthumous cameo in the film, a cameo that he had no clue about.
"Wait, I have a cameo? I didn't know that." He then adds, "You know, I don't even think they asked my permission to do that."
Now we are even more excited to see the movie, just to look for Franco's unauthorized cameo. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes comes out July 11th. Along with James Franco; stars of the film will include Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Jason Clark, and Andy Serkis reprising his critically acclaimed motion capture performance of Caesar.
