For a while now both Manchester City and Everton have been suggesting the power was in their hands, as they had games in hands. Manchester City were (arguably still are) locked in a title race with Liverpool and Chelsea, whilst Everton are hoping to grab the final Champions League spot from Arsenal. Both teams had an 'easy' game in hand, with City facing struggling Sunderland and Everton welcoming inconsistent Crystal Palace. Both were supposed to win, however, both fell short, and now there are new twists and turns in this exciting finish to the season.

Manchester City had led for most of the match, but Sunderland, through a Connor Wickham double took a late lead, and looked like causing the mother of all upsets. A late Samir Nasri equalizer ensured Manchester City would maintain their title hopes, although they know a win was required to keep the intense pressure on current leaders Liverpool. City took the 2-2 draw and ran, knowing they were lucky, however, it shouldn't of come to that, not for champions anyway.

Everton rarely lose at home, and this season they've not lost much, but Roberto Martinez' men welcomed Crystal Palace, who dominated most of the match. Everton came back in to the match later, but it wasn't enough as Tony Pulis' men grabbed the 3-2 win. Palace played with little pressure as there's nothing on the line for them for the remainder of the season. Their aim was to stay up, and they look set to achieve that.

What will happen next? These 'easy' victories turned in to difficult hurdles, and dropped points for Manchester City and Everton, but are their ambitions dead in the water?
