West Ham striker Dylan Tombides loses his battle with cancer

The Premier League is a matter of weeks away from it's climax, but certain things ensure the fans remember there is so much more to the game they adore. 20-year-old striker Dylan Tombides was a highly regarded prospect of West Ham's, however, in 2011 he was diagnozed with cancer. He didn't give up his football career, and he battled to beat his terrible illness, becoming a hero in everyone's eyes, but sadly on Friday morning the youngster lost his battle with cancer.

Fans, celebrities and many others have been making tributes to the young hero, who has most certainly reminded everybody that football is indeed just a game. During his battle with the illness he did everything he could to raise awareness and in the process he made himself quite a few celnrity friends, including Samuel L Jackson, who tweeted his disbelief of the news.

The young forward had represented his country, Australia, at youth levels and achieved a lot during his career. He was tipped to go and become a Premier League star and a full Australian international. The youngster did play for West Ham in the League Cup, showing the huge amount of faith the club had in their young, heroic striker.

As everybody enjoys the remainder of the season they've been reminded that the game they love and know isn't life and death, and that having a 'never give up' attitude will get you far in life. Dylan Tombides will be missed, whilst tributes continue to poor in for the well respected forward.
