In a recent article for the New York Times, columnist Nicholas Kristof explained how a pop music star such as Taylor Swift could easily influence the future of Ukraine. Claiming that the people listen to her music and trust in such an idol as Swift rather than Russian President Vladimir Putin, it is plausible that someone with such high celebrity could help this situation.

"The kids here learn English and flirt in low-cut bluejeans," Kristof, whose father grew up in Karapchiv, stated. "They listen to Rihanna, AC/DC and Taylor Swift. They have crushes on George Clooney and Angelina Jolie, watch The Simpsons and Family Guy, and play Grand Theft Auto. The School here has computers and an Internet connection, which kids use to watch YouTube and join Facebook."

"In the battle between Putin and Taylor Swift," he continued, "I bet on Swift."

The columnist claims the Ukrainian citizens have their eyes peeled on the West, which could easily influence this state of things in the nation. Having Swift or someone like the pop-country singer get involved in this situation could be beneficial to al parties involved. Though it's not always a great idea to mix celebrity and politics, it has worked in the past and could easily work today.
