50 Cent Causes Uproar After Autism Tweets

Rapper 50 Cent caused a Twitter uproar this week when he took on autism. Fiddy, who has almost 7 million followers on the social-networking site, made it known he's not interested in having any that live with the disability.

The rapper decided it'd be a good idea to respond to a fan who tweeted him, "Release another album or get shot again." It's a bit of a surprise that even at this point in his career (the downside) 50 Cent thought he could win with someone who tweets something like that, much less by writing back, "yeah just saw your picture fool you look autistic." Later, he reportedly wrote, "I dont want no special ed kids on my time line follow some body else."

Believe it or not, it appears not all of his 6.8 million followers were happy to see his response. Imagine that. A recent study found that one in 88 children has autism.

The actress and autism advocate Holly Robinson Peete (who's probably best known for her roles on the original "21 Jump Street" show and CBS' current sitcom "Mike & Molly") was among the unhappy.

Peete wrote 50 Cent an open letter on her own website. "I've met you in passing over the years and I know you are a bright, astute, businessman and legitimate philanthropist so it is with a bit of sincere confusion that I ask you. ... Do you even know what autism is?" she wrote. "And what exactly does "autistic" look like?"

Peete also mentioned her own son, who has autism. "He is in special ed. He loves rap music and is a HUGE fan of yours. He's a tremendous kid. He has to deal with so much trying to fit in. This isn't helping."

50 Cent has since deleted the offending tweets. He regularly raps about smoking crack, pimping, and killing people. No word on why people are surprised he said someone "looks autistic."
