A year or so ago it seemed like it was all downhill for Liverpool Football Club, but this season seems to be bringing good news upon good news. It seems unthinkable that they'd throw away their Premier League lead, meaning they'd lift the title at the seasons end. However, that's not where the good news ends. Today Liverpool announced further plans for the redevelopment of their football ground, Anfield, which could boost its capacity to nearly 59,000.
A couple of years ago the club announced they'd rather redevelop their ground than move to a new ground, keeping its 112 history intact. The main stand will feature many new, exciting aspects, including the Hillsborough Memorial. Ian Ayre, Liverpool's managing director, said "As part of our proposed Stadium redevelopment project, we have unveiled the detail of our ambitious plans for an expanded Main Stand and Anfield Road stand and are embarking on a consultation process which will shape and inform our planning application."
It appears that the possible Premier League champions could have the history of their ground with an exciting, new feel to it, and they'll see they will see the return of what looks like regular Champions League football returning to the ground. With the plans in place Anfield will look to become a bigger, better ground, despite already being known for having the best atmosphere in the country.
With all of this positive news and a likely busy summer, could Liverpool be set for a return to English soccer domination?
