Beyoncé has just announced that the next single from her self-titled album going to be... "Pretty Hurts."
The singles beauty pageant themed video, which was included on Beyoncé's self-titled visual album, has just been added to MTV video playlist and will be sent to radio in May. The song has been gaining attention in the media lately after it was reported that the single was not originally intended for Mrs. Carter.
The New York Times wrote that Sia Furler, who penned the track, originally planned for Katy Perry to sing the self-help ballad. The news outlet reports that "Furler emailed the song to her friend Katy Perry, but Perry didn't see the email. So Furler passed the song along to Rihanna's manager, who held it for eight months, but ultimately did not pay the fee to secure the track." The track finally landed in the hands of Beyoncé who scooped up the track and closed the deal with Sia.
Perry who is always one for a little word play texted Furler and said "I'm pretty hurt you never sent me this song," Sia texted her back saying, "check your email."
Beyoncé had amazing success with her unexpected release of her latest album. The album debuted at the top of Billboard 200, and made her the only female in the history of the chart to have scored number ones with her first five albums. The album has gone on to sell 1,929,359 in the United States alone and 3 million copies worldwide.
