Curtis Woodhouse was a highly respected footballer, and when he decided to retire and pursue the sport of boxing, many thought he'd gone mad. In February he had an opportunity to become the light-welterweight champion of Britain, and many said he had little chance, but he won in style, saying it would be his last fight. Recently he changed his mind, and although it took a while to confirm, he has now announced he will fight Willie Limond in Glasgow on Friday, June 27.

Woodhouse wants to defend his title and rightfully so, and although many thought we'd seen the fairytale ending, we may yet see another chapter. If he can be Limond, he will not only defend his title, but he will win the Commonwealth belt, too. Limond respects Woodhouse, and knows he is in for a tough fight. He explained "I like the way he goes about his business. He's completely dedicated and he comes to fight, and that means this is going to be a great night for the fans."

Curtis appears to have the same drive and determination he had in early 2014, saying "It's a real honour to be going to Scotland to put my British title on the line against Willie and challenge for his Commonwealth crown," He continued "Willie is a fighter who I have a lot of respect for. He's been there, seen it and done it, and I hope to give the Scottish fans a night they won't forget. The fans up there always really get behind their own fighters but by the end of the fight I hope to earn their respect."

Does Woodhouse think he is the favourite in this fight? He explains the equal nature of the upcoming bout, saying "This is a proper 50/50 fight. Willie and I deserve respect for putting both our belts on the line; it's winner takes all and may the best man win!" Can the former footballer add another glorious boxing belt to his list of ongoing achievements?
